Friday Fun with the Elders!

So....this is what we have to contend with at District meetings with the Elders. Believe me, you can tell they are between the ages of 18 and 21!  I fall for their "joke" every time. They come up to me and say "Guess what?" So I say "what?" Then they said "Chicken Butt."  They think that is very funny for some reason. And of course, I fall for it every single time!

Elder Runolfson in his vintage '60's rust suit, with his pineapple tie. Thank you Goodwill!

Elder Tanner balancing a bird on his nose at a member's home before dinner. The Elders are big on service, that's why the t-shirt instead of a suit!
I guess you can see that there is never a dull moment with the Elders and Sisters in your company!

Shawnee, Oklahoma

Once in a while on our preparation day (Monday), we enjoy exploring other little cities. Last Monday we went northwest to Shawnee to find a cute city that even has a mall! But best of all, we shopped at a brand new Hobby Lobby and found a Chick-fil-A, so of course, we just had to eat there! That restaurant has some serious customers. While we were eating, cars were constantly going through their 2-lane drive thru in a steady stream!  The restaurant is new also and gave us a Mesa reminder.

Eat your heart out folks!  Yes, that's correct!  One pound of butter for $1.89 at Aldi's, the new market in Ada.  We shop there for value, but if we want any of our favorite name brands, it's the Apple Market or Walmart.

Spring is in the Air!

Our niece, Annie,  was on Wheel of Fortune last Thursday evening, so we asked our TV friends if we could watch the show at their house.  It was great fun to see Annie on TV, she won some respectable money on the show!
The blossoms are beginning to bloom out, the grasses are turning green, and the skies are blue, except for the thunder and lightning storms we saw last night!  The weather is mild and beautiful!

Hyacinths that are blooming by our back porch.
Brittney was baptized Saturday. She is excited to be a member of the Church and loves to learn. Her mother is taking the missionary lessons and has a baptism date set also.

We're becoming pals with many of the member's dogs, like Rudy. As long as there are only one or two dogs in the home, we are good. But when we get to meet more than two in a home, then it gets a little crowded and we don't feel quite so friendly toward them. People in Oklahoma love their animals! As long as the cats keep to themselves, then Elder Lemmert is happy.

Every couple of months, Sister Cooley takes all the missionaries to Pizza Hut where they order the lunch menu and eat and eat and eat.  When they are finally full, they take the remainder of their food home for their next meal. You've never seen so much bread on one table!
Angel joined the Church in the summer of 2014.
We invited her and her adorable daughter over
to dinner last week. Wish we had some of our
kiddie toys from home, but Play Doh, coloring,
and I-Pads seemed to keep the little one busy.

We're Really Oklahomans Now!

Because we were rear-ended last month, we had our bumper on the car replaced. So when Elder Lemmert picked up the rental car, it was a Dodge truck with an extended cab. We loved driving it, however, getting in and out in a skirt was a challenge, along with missing the poles on either side of our parking spot!  But it surely rode smoothly on all the bumpy Oklahoma roads and the cab was very roomy.  We felt like we were officially from Oklahoma with our big truck. Once we got the car back, we felt very restricted and "cozy" once again.

Boot & Saddle Shop - Thursday Lunch

Every Thursday, Hugh, the owner of the Boot and Saddle Store, serves a community lunch. We sometimes attend and hang out with the locals. Last Thursday we ate a feast of fried catfish, cornbread, potatoes, beans, salad, cake and brownies.  It's always fun and we are fed well! But we enjoy getting know people in the community. You can believe that on catfish day, the back room where we eat lunch, is packed!

Caroline, Hugh's sister, is always there to help, serve, greet, and smile.
Hugh is in the blue shirt, very friendly and loves to cook for the people.
Cooking the catfish on the back dock of the store, in his cast iron deep fryer. He has his system all figured out for quick cooking!. He breads the catfish with Louisiana fish breading. This was the first time I've eaten catfish, and it was really good!

Zone Meeting, March 9, 2015 in Paul's Valley, OK

These are the Seminole missionaries who found these shirts at Wal-Mart earlier in the day and wore them to the activity (STM).  We have had a few occasions to inter mingle with them and they are fun!

Elder Reeder and Elder Lemmert at the Boger's home at the STM activity. We played games of a calmer nature, like Signs and Animals, rather than play the Elder's dangerous form of baseketball (no rules) It was raining hard and everyone's socks were soaking wet.

Our Oklahoma February 2015

Beautiful snow that we experienced four days during the month. It was fine and not the best snowman material. Everything closes down here when it snows.
A selfie in the snow! We began walking but it was so slippery that we got in the car and drove around. There is usually ice under the snow here.
Our Valentines Day selfie! We were so busy that we finally bought ice cream at 9 pm and that was our Valentines Day!
Transfer Day!
Sister Lemmert, Elders Swenson, Tanner, Garner and Owen
Sisters Drinkall and Moore
Zavior and Elder Tanner on baptism day!

What is the Book of Mormon?
